About A&D Company, Japan
Founded in Japan in 1977 by 13 engineers...
A&D (which stands for Analog & Digital) was founded in Japan in 1977 by a group of 13 engineers led by Hikaru Furukawa. The company began by manufacturing and distributing analog-to-digital converters and multimeters. In 1982 the company entered the electronic balance marketplace by acquiring a Japanese scale and balance company.
Today, although focused on our core weighing business, A&D has expanded into many new business areas all developed around our core competence of analog to digital conversion technology. Other business units include Professional and Home Healthcare, Measurement, Control and Simulation systems for among others the automotive industry. Electron Beam and D/A convertors and a diverse range of measurement instrumentation for, among other things, materials testing, non-destructive testing and noise and vibration analysis.
Since A&D was established we have adopted and implemented a global business strategy. We have developed
a global network of subsidiary and distribution o ices which is still growing today. At the same time strategic acquisitions have enriched our product portfolio, which is the key to further expand our global presence. A&D currently manufacture products in five countries delivering on-time supply across the globe to our regional subsidiary warehouses.
A&D employs some 3,500 people globally, R&D, design, manufacturing, selling and supporting our products. Our products are tailored to the needs of each local market to ensure conformity with local regulations and the industry standards for the region.
Through our global network of o ices we o er our product to market through our dedicated and in many cases longstanding and loyal distribution partners. These partners o er pre and post sales product support and on-site services to the local customer base, supported of course by our own in-house service and technical support teams.
A&D adhere to standards based quality management systems to ensure both product and process quality.
A&D hold numerous patents which have been applied across the product ranges.

Established in 1991 as a subsidiary o ice of A&D Company, Japan, A&D Instruments Ltd is the sales, distribution and support o ice for Europe. From our UK o ices we support a network or dealers and distributors across Europe, primarily supporting our Scientific & Industrial Weighing
& Measuring systems and Professional & Home Healthcare products. In addition to our UK head o ice we also have
a German subsidiary o ice directly supporting one of our biggest single markets for weighing products. As well as supporting our dealers and distributors on-site our German sales representatives also regularly attend exhibitions across the region, all ably supported by our German speaking back o ice team.
As well as maintaining a fully stocked warehouse delivering short delivery times across Europe, we also o er a ersales service, technical support and maintenance training backup from our UK based technical service workshop.
