HOW DO WE KEEP THE WORLD WELL FOLLOW THE MONEY
Confronted with climate change, companies and investors face many complex ethical questions. Should investors continue to invest in fossil fuels? How should they manage the legal and financial risks of the internationally agreed transition to net-zero emissions?
The financial sector has a crucial role to play in either sustaining the status quo or aiding the transition to a net-zero carbon world. The Oxford Martin Principles for Climate-Conscious Investment provide up-to-date, fact-based guidance for investors across the economy keen to contribute to this transition.
RETHINK THE ELECTRIC GRID
Renewable energy sources differ from fossil fuels in more than just their carbon emissions footprint; they are scattered across wide
areas and they produce energy intermittently. Integrating these new, clean energy sources into our existing electric grid while ensuring a stable supply of power is essential to realise the transition to a low- carbon energy system. The Oxford Martin Programme on Integrating Renewable Energy brings together engineers, economists, and materials scientists, and is now working on a groundbreaking initiative in partnership with the UK government, private energy companies, and local authorities to transform the delivery and use of energy.
