  CASE STUDY: EDI
Edi was referred to ‘Unlocking Potential’ with concerns around his wellbeing. As we got to know Edi, it became clear that he had become a victim of drug exploitation, was at risk of harm and facing a court case. Edi was determined to engage with our team, escape from the cycle of crime he had found himself involved with, and move forward with his life in a positive way.
Edi was interested in a career in Wealth Management, so we worked with him to compile a tailored, achievable support package toward the education and training he needed to reach his goal, sourcing an apprenticeship in a location close enough for Edi to travel to each day, in a suitable location away from the area of concern.
The apprenticeship required Edi to pass Maths and English GCSEs, so we funded a laptop, books and 1:1 private tuition for him to participate via video chat, enabling him to progress towards his goals from the
safety of his home. Edi passed his exams, and the Wealth Management company
he is working with have offered him a full- time role. Edi now has a very different life - and is proof that, with the right ongoing support, even the most difficult of situations can be overcome.
Quote from Edi: Unlocking Potential
has really helped me academically and in society. I had nothing - now I have an English qualification, I’m doing an apprenticeship and my life has only just begun. I would strongly suggest that anyone with the opportunity to work with Aspire takes it, and never looks back. Without
the organisations
and people who
make programmes
like this possible, we
would never get a
second chance.
